CLICK YOUR HEELS

More famous than Cinderella’s Glass slippers are the Magical Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz. The character of Dorothy Gale appears in My ASL Dictionary again (first time in hand sign REMEMBER) to display a sign that fits her story even better.

Dressed in a blue and white gingham pinafore, her hair in brown pigtails, a Young Dorothy (more like the 12-year-old girl from the book) illustrates the ASL hand sign for SHOES,
and the magical shoes (originally silver in the book), click the heels to reveal the word in English.

The two S hands, palm down, tap together, like Dorothy clicking her heels three times to go home.
