My ASL Dictionary has four cartoons of women in bridal gowns.
The first 2013 illustration represents the promise of the wedding vows. Dressed in a fancy white lace wedding veil and gown with a bridal bouquet, this young bride shows the ASL hand sign for PROMISE, CONFIRM, and COMMIT.
The Index finger to the lips becomes a flat hand pressed against the thumb side of the closed fist, like sealing a promise in a hand.
