For the first illustration of the new year, the ASL hand sign for OWL with a cartoon of the great conservationist, Grey Owl. Drawn to Canada by his fascination with First Nations Culture and love of nature, Archibald Stansfeld Belaney left his home in Hastings, England, and took the identity of Apache Native, Wa-Sha-Quon-Asin, Grey Owl. Despite his imposter status, he is still remembered for the environmental messages of his books, memoirs, films, and lecture tours.
