TOP FOODS TO EAT

In celebration of colourful and delicious dishes, another presentation of My ASL Dictionary’s hand signs for Edibles, starting with the Similar ASL hand signs, EAT and FOOD.
Some nouns and verbs in ASL share the same handshape (Ex. SIT and CHAIR) but are different in movement. The motion for the VERB is Once, while the motion for the NOUN is Twice.

An early 2013 illustration of a Restaurant Cook in a Red Apron and Yellow Tie, his eyes focused on his fingers possibly holding a treat, illustrates the hand signs for EAT and FOOD.

The Verb EAT flattens the O hand and taps the fingers against the lips Once, the act of putting food into the Mouth.

The Noun FOOD the Flattened O hand taps the fingers against the lips twice, like shovelling food into the Mouth.
