For an ASL class project, I presented my Children’s Story, ‘My Grandma Has a New Boyfriend’ in ASL, with one of the story’s many characters being a Pachyderm. On Page 50 in My ASL Dictionary, dressed in a bright blue tailcoat with gold trim, a Circus Ringmaster illustrates the ASL hand sign for ELEPHANT. Starting near the nose, the Flat hand arcs downward and up, like an elephant’s long trunk.
