Louis Laurent Marie Clerc was the first deaf character I illustrated forĀ MY ASL DICTIONARY. While I continued to include other characters from deaf history, I knew it was time to include present-day deaf culture as well. After learning about theatre captioning glasses from my ASL teachers, I added that movie experience to my dictionary. For the ASL hand sign for SKIP, a Deaf Movie Patron sits in the theatre with his Captioning Glasses. As the lenses announce trailers with the scrolling words Coming Soon, he signs SKIP to go straight to the show. The Index finger swipes past the bent middle finger of the opposite hand, like swiping to the next option.

After finishing this picture for my Dictionary, I was excited to have reached 901 cartoon ASL hand signs.
