Halloween was yesterday, but like the candy still found around the house, the season continues with more ASL hand signs illustrated by MY ASL Dictionary’s Halloween monsters. A cartoon of a simple ghost costume of a bed sheet is the character illustrating the ASL hand sign for PERCENT, its yellow hue matching my curtains at the time.
The O hand moves to the side and then down at an angle as if tracing the Number 7 for the % symbol.
This ghost’s disconnected hand gave the spirit in a sheet a little more flexibility in its animation, but with the importance of the face, the arms, and the body in ASL grammar, my dictionary has only two ghosts.
