There is more than one hand sign for Story, as there are various definitions of each Story hand sign. They all needed a storyteller to illustrate them. Before ASL, Indigenous Sign Language was an essential communication of the Aboriginal tribes across Turtle Island for both the hearing and the deaf. A visual narration that is still used in storytelling, rituals, and prayers. I finish Truth and Reconciliation Week with a Métis storyteller in their headdress showing the first ASL hand sign for Story taught to me in class.
