girl, my mother would drive us to the A&W Drive-In restaurant, where we would get free refills of root beer for our glass mugs. With that memory, I did a cartoon of little me with a frothy mug of root beer showing one of the hand signs for this liquid confection. Another version is to fingerspell ROOT and then do the hand sign for Beer.
