The ASL Sign of the Day for the Day of Rest. The Coal Miner is one of my earlier hand signs from 2013. When his original file was lost in a hard drive crash animating this worker meant extra work. In the dictionary, he is a still image with the right hand posed with a direction arrow in the middle of the sign’s movement. To animate, I had to remove this hand and cartoon arrow to redraw the right hand in two separate locations. I also had to keep the look of the original drawing from a time I was inking in markers instead of pens. He looks messy, but he is showing what hard work is.
