To match the tone of this ASL hand sign, I needed a character dressed as the fantastical and out of the ordinary. In the book, this fellow looks like an angry time lord from Doctor Who. Animated, however, his hands are no longer frozen in front of his face revealing a bemused Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon.
This version was taught to me in 2014, I will be posting an updated version tomorrow.
