One of my challenges in learning ASL was the ‘Signer’s Perspective’. When the observer looks at the descriptions given through the signer’s lens. To mentally reverse to fit what the signer perceives, like a mirror’s reflection. A happy accident learning this lesson led to some of my characters being drawn as left-handed.
My ASL Dictionary has a cartoon of the Gorgon Medusa (the Greek Monster who would turn to stone anyone who looked in her eyes) illustrating the ASL hand sign for MIRROR.
