The ASL Word for Canada Day.
As I’m animating the artwork from my cartoon dictionary, I sometimes have to make adjustments to the original pictures. There is always something new to learn in ASL as it is a very fluid language. Tapping the A hand sign on the chest is the hand sign for Canada. As was taught in class, my book has the thumb resting in position on the side of the fist. Further research, however, showed that in Canada, the thumb is up. For the Word of the Day this Canada day, I redrew the hand to match the Canadian variant.
The character for this hand sign is a sentry from the Canadian Forces Ceremonial Guard (I saved using an RCMP officer for the hand sign for Home).
