I’m ecstatic about my Author website. All it requires is a few tweaks.
I spent a few days transferring the blogs from my EJM Art site to the Author Website, often upgrading the text and images.
The Webpage design came next. My original art makes a good fit in the design, but the display changes with each device that opens it, the images are cropped. A problem for the artwork on the About the Book page. The text of the underwater illustration, Testing the Waters, is too large to display. The Top of the picture Cropped, cutting the title. An easy enough problem to fix, but I need to acknowledge how the image changes. I measured the image displays for my PC, Tablet, and iPhone. I went back to the original picture and put it in separate layers to show the cropping of the frames to know which area remained untouched.
I shrunk the title and moved it closer to my diver characters. I then had to find another place for the ASL words. Luckily, looking at my brother Matthew’s artwork reminded me of the reflective nature of eyes and water. I took the titles for the ASL hand signs from the water and moved them into the visors of my two divers, removing the secondary words completely. My diver in black and yellow, I moved up a bit to better show the one hand striking the other.
As the gif demonstrates, all the vital images and text are now in the center of the illustration, untouched.
The next challenge is learning how to replace this updated image on the web page.
If anything else, this has been an excellent exercise in image design.
