With the ASL101 course completed (with an A), I returned to my work designing the illustrations for my second website. Below is the first draft for the main page, Seeing the Words. It shows three pictures from my dictionary, Tree, Sky, and Rainbow. I made different backgrounds for each character. An art piece that also represented the words they are signing. A design choice inspired by De’Via art. The art genre I learned about when I did the research for my Chuck Baird paper in my ASL class. Without that class, without that assignment, this picture would never happen. Even with the dictionary finished, my Deaf ASL teachers continue to give me guidance and inspiration for my work.
