As with all new languages, studying one word often leads to discovering another. After finishing the ASL sign for Pie with the Grandmother character, it seemed fitting to draw her boyfriend, Frank, as one of the hand signs for CAKE. These characters are from my 1990 children’s book; My Grandma has a new Boyfriend. This happy couple also exists inside my ASL dictionary. You can find them and the other characters in the ASL signs for Buffalo, First of All, Group, Join, Kite, Member, Our, Search, and We. It’s always interesting to see how my art style has changed since 2013. Perhaps in the future, I will upgrade the illustrations in the children’s book drawn over a decade ago.
