My dictionary covers both meals and food types. I decided to begin work on the ASL hand signs for desserts, starting with one of my favorites, cookies. Illustrating a chef with gloves and a hairnet, I drew the changing positions of the dominant hand on the side of the image as I was concerned that making the one hand translucent above the other would confuse the final image. On the chef’s apron, of course, I drew the most famous cookie monster of them all.
