PANDEMIC

I’m in the final stretch of finishing my ASL Dictionary. However, with the new reality of the COVID 19 pandemic sinking in, I have begun to draw many new words as characters with protective equipment (similar to the Book Hunt ad). With this timestamp on my dictionary, I thought it apt to include the ASL sign for Coronavirus. The first challenge to recording this hand sign was to find it. Coronavirus and Covid 19 were new ASL signs, not yet put to print inside a book on a shelf. For authenticity, I based my illustration on seeing the sign’s application in these links.

Now included in my dictionary is a gloved careworker dressed in current isolation gear (face shields would come later). The cartoon has both hand signs for Coronavirus, instructions for fingerspelling Covid 19, and a small picture of the virus underneath the hints.
